A few factors to consider:

Fitness level: In every sport, the most dedicated participants set up a routine, focusing on strength building, muscle toning and stretching exercises that directly translate to better performance and that applies to kitesurfing. Now, kitesurfing on its own improves your overall fitness of course, however a basic fitness level is expected before you begin kitesurfing and that means having good-acceptable aerobic conditions and sufficient core muscle tone; if you are lacking heavily in either, the time it would take you to learn how to kitesurf effectively might become a little prolonged.

Learning & Mastering the Basic Skills: Learning, practicing and mastering the basic skills of any sport is the foundation for good, consistent performance; here is where the quickest jump in the learning curve occurs however mastering the basics should not be overlooked just because it may seem easy. For a kitesurfer, getting to know the rules, how to handle the kite, knowing the waters, the winds, and the right kitesurfing spots etc. is basic knowledge that no kitesurfer can do without.

Quality of your instruction: Always look for a certified IKO instructor; your IKO Instructor will help introduce you to the sport and teach you about the various safety rules and skills before going into the waters. Because they’re certified, they go by the universally accepted rules and techniques of kitesurfing. Learning on your own or from a non-certified fellow kitesurfer might just unnecessarily extend your time to master the sport correctly not to mention the possibility of risk involved.

Frequency of your sessions: You might consider a flexible program that accommodates to your time schedule. Good kiteboarding schools deliver courses to fit every need with dedicated instructors. Now, I couldn’t anticipate exactly how many sessions it would take you to learn effectively how to kitesurf, that depends on your dedication and follow up with the classes.

Wind and water conditions: Kiteboarding is wind-dependent so this could cause delays when you are learning how to Kiteboard. Kiteboarding can be practiced all year long in Florida nevertheless the best season is always spring-summer time when the best conditions come together: sun, wind and waters.
